Iona is a small island just off the southwestern coast of the Isle of Mull. This very special place is considered the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. In 653, St. Columba and 12 companions came to Iona from Ireland and founded a monastery that became one of the most important and influential in all of the British Isles.
