We set forth on a life-changing journey as we follow the Episcopal Church in Great Britain. From quaint and lovely villages to some of the most beautiful and vibrant cities of the world, we will travel through England and into Scotland to gain a deeper understanding of and keener appreciation for the remarkable events and courageous individuals that changed the spiritual landscape of the world. We may even come away with a desire to live our own lives more courageously.

 
 

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart USA Depart on an overnight flight to London, England.

Day 2: Arrive in London (D) Arrive in London and enjoy a tour of London’s West End, featuring Marble Arch and Hyde Park, Whitehall and Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and Westminster Abbey. Dinner and overnight in London.

Day 3: London (B,D) Visit St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. Afternoon at leisure to explore, visit a museum, shop, or relax. Dinner and overnight in London.

Day 4: London & Excursion to Canterbury (B,D) Visit the spiritual capital of England, Canterbury. Enjoy a guided tour of Canterbury Cathedral. Afternoon at leisure in Canterbury before returning to Rome for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: London, Cambridge, Bury St. Edmunds & Norwich (B,D) Leave London and head north to Cambridge. Visit King’s College, and the King’s College Chapel. Continue to Bury St. Edmunds, where King Edmund is laid to rest. Continue to Norwich, formerly the second largest city in England. Visit Norwich Cathedral, and the cell of Julian of Norwich, who is believed to be the first woman author to publish a book in the English language. Dinner and overnight in Norwich.

Day 6: Norwich, Lincoln & York (B,D) Visit Lincoln Cathedral, the tallest building in the world between 1300 & 1549. Continue to York to see Minster, an astronomical clock, the old marketplace, and the Shambless. Dinner and overnight in York.

Day 7: York, Durham, Hadrians Wall & Edinburgh (B,D) Transfer north to Durham, whose ‘gray towers’ are immortalized by Sir Walter Scott. See the Old Town and visit the Norman Cathedral. En-route to Edinburgh, stop at a section of Hadrian’s Wall, built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian (AD 122). Dinner and overnight in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Day 8: Edinburgh (B,D) Half-day guided tour of Edinburgh featuring Edinburgh Castle, St. Giles Cathedral, the John Knox House the Palace of Holyrood House, the Scott Monument, Edinburgh University, Grayfriars, and the Mound. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Edinburgh.

Day 9: Edinburgh, Glasgow & Depart for Home (B) Transfer to the Glasgow Airport for return flight to the USA.
